Port McNeill to Campbell River - Vancouver Island

Jaimee is pointing to her unit in Port McNeill as we pass by in the ferry on our way to Alert Bay, Cormorant Island. The island had the 'Residential School for Indians' which closed down in the late 1970s. Cormorant Island is the traditional home of the Namgis First Nation who have used this land seasonally for thousands of years. The population today is about 1300 people and it is the oldest fishing community on the North of Vancouver Island.
