Roadtrip - Part 4, Coober Pedy, South Australia

The opal mines area is made up of around thirty working fields stretching outwards in a radius of up to 50km from the town of Coober Pedy. It is thought that around 150 million years ago, Coober Pedy was covered by ocean. When the water receded, the multi-coloured gem-stone called opal formed.
