Cruise Juneau to Ketchikan - Alaska

The walk featured the Living Tree Carvings. These carvings by Richard Beasley were on various trees along the Alpine Loop Trail and are examples of an ancient Tlingit custom known as Culturally Modified Trees. They only use spruce trees as these trees create a protective seal around the carving that discourages insects and diseases from penetrating the surface.
