Fiji Holiday - Bounty Island

The Kava Ceremony is held to welcome guests to the island and follows the traditional ways. Kava is a plant that grows locally on the Fijian islands. The root of the Kava plant is dried, crushed and then, in a kava ceremony is mixed with water and offered to guests. It has a slight numbing effect in your mouth. It is not alcoholic but more a weak narcotic. One bowl is quite safe to drink and the fact that it tastes like muddy water doesn't encourage you to have too many.
