Holiday Photo Album Album 14 - Katherine Gorge , Northern Territory

Katherine Gorge is about 30km from the town of Katherine. This year they had serious floods late in the wet season which meant the National Park officers had not had time to clear the area for saltwater crocodiles. Usually only freshwater crocs inhabit this gorge but in the floods, salties can sometimes make their way up here. This meant that we were not allowed to canoe the gorge and camp out overnight. We took the boat cruise instead and did some of the walks. Missed the last web album? See Photos and Stories of Kakadu National Park or use the Australia map to select another.
