Hawkes Bay to Rotorua, New Zealand

We had been following the Waihuka River and saw this sign which we found interesting. Is that meant to be a kiwi??? We looked for 15km and didn't see anything! It was a very scenic drive leaving the Waihuka River and then continuing alongside the clear blue/green Waioeka River. Select the photo below to see more of this area.
