Some of the smaller pools have green and yellow sulphur-coloured mud around the edges. Bacteria and algae thrive in the warm water of the various coloured pools -some green and some blue. You can't forget this is a very active geothermal region and wonder when it is next going to demonstrate this with more violent volcanic activity.
