Rotorua to Auckland, New Zealand

We were very keen to visit the Hot Water Beach where spring water bubbles to the surface on the beach which is accessed at low tide and just a 10 minute walk around the headland from here. The bubbles are not caused by boiling water as it is only around 60C and you can dig a shallow hole in the sand and lie in it like a Spa. The bubbles are from the release of Carbon Dioxide as the trapped hot water, remaining from volcanic activity, makes its way to the surface at the 2 small springs.
