Rotorua to Auckland, New Zealand

We heard next day that people were stranded by floodwaters on the Coromandel Peninsula, so I think we were lucky to make it out and be able to continue our trip. After crossing the peninsula again to Kopu, we skirted around the southern edge of the Firth of Thames then followed it north towards Miranda. We only had vague directions to Ray's Rest, a free camp overlooking the bay, but we managed to find it OK and were very pleased with the spot.
