Auckland to Cape Reinga, New Zealand

It had been raining off and on for days but overnight we had an absolute downpour. We were woken up a couple of times with brilliant lightning flashes and wind rocking the campervan. We set off next morning, following the Far North Road, hoping today to make it to the tip of Cape Reinga. The flash flooding had caused quite a bit of damage and we had to stop a few times while roads were cleared of debris. Select the photo below to see more of this area.
