UK and Europe Roadtrip - Ephesus

It is hard to imagine Ephesus was situated on the coast around 2000BC. Silt kept building up over the centuries to form a fertile plain. This moved the coastline further and further from the city until it was no longer viable to access it by sea. Combined with partial destruction of the city by the Goths in 263, earthquakes and invasions, Ephesus slowly went into decline. Select the photo below to see more.
