Dom Trier, the High Cathedral of Saint Peter, is the oldest church in Germany and was built on top of old Roman palace ruins that date back to the 4th century. Uver the centuries, during periods of unrest, various sections of the cathedral have been destroyed then rebuilt so the result is a mix of architectural styles.
