Farewell Spit to Foxton Beach, New Zealand

On this side of the spit, the dunes are steeper and more unstable due to their exposure to the winds which average 25 km/h. Onetahua, meaning "heaped up sand" in Maori is an obvious choice of name for Farewell Spit.
