Farewell Spit to Foxton Beach, New Zealand

At the main springs there is a much deeper pool with a viewing platform that allows you to see underwater too. This is the southern hemisphere's largest cold water springs with around 7000 litres per second being released during droughts right up to more than 20000 litres per second when there has been a lot of rain in the wider area. The water is crystal clear so you can see all the striking colours of the underwater plants as well as the beautiful blue of the water and sands it bubbles through. Select the photo below to see more of this area.
