Tanna Island, Vanuatu

Tanna's population of over 20000 live on its 565 sq km of rich volcanic fertile soil which is a mix of savanna, thick forest, plains and rugged mountains. This is typical of the coastline on this side of the island. There are both white and black sand beaches depending on volcanic activity in the area. Million year old lava beds are exposed along with limestone coral reefs at low tide.
