Tanna Island, Vanuatu

This is a very pretty part of Tanna. With all of the tours we went on, a payment was made to the village or family that owned the area you visited (included in cost of tour). One of our guides told us about a current dispute over who owned a particular beach that one of the tours visited. He told us that the chief was having to make the difficult decision about who should get the money. Apart from money from tourists, kava and coffee are major cash crops for export. Local produce is carried to the markets for sale in woven baskets.
