UK and Europe Roadtrip - Battle Abbey

Not a lot remains of the original abbey buildings except for its impressive gateway which sits at the end of Battle's High Street. The story goes that before William left the coast of France he promised that if God granted him victory then he would establish a monastery that was actually named St Martin's Abbey.
