Queenstown to Haast Pass, New Zealand

Look at the closest edge of the lake. The blue water is so clear here you can see right down onto the shallower edge before it seems to drop straight down. Wakatipu Lake is very deep, around 400m, and has a 'standing wave' which causes the water level to rise and fall about 200mm every half hour. The 'wave' (seiche) isn't very obvious as it is a slow flow of water up and down the lake.
