Haast to Greymouth, New Zealand

On the way out of Hokitika there is a Glowworm Dell just off the main road, 200m walk into a small fern and moss covered gorge. We investigated,  but of course you can't see them in the daylight. I am sure it would be magical at night. We found out though (information sign) that they are the larval stage of the fungal fly and they make the glow through their tails using bioluminescence. That didn't sound so romantic!
