These are the Web Photo Albums from 2007 - 2010. Scenery and places don't change much so these and other webalbums are still relevant today! Click on the Trips and Photos page to see all other photo albums. OR... Some people prefer to use the Map on the Home page or the alphabetical listing to locate the photos and information they want to see for various parts of Australia or other overseas destinations.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 14 - Yoho National Park, BC to Banff Nat Pk, Alberta

This is the last Web Album from our 6 week Alaska & Canada Trip! We continued down the Icefields Parkway past Bow Lake then west along the Trans Canada Highway into Yoho National Park, British Columbia, via Kicking Horse Pass. Natural Bridge and Emerald Lake were highlights. We then returned to Alberta and Banff National Park to see the stunning Lake Louise and Minnewanka Lake and do the Stewart Canyon walk. Day 42 we were back in Airdrie (near Calgary) and getting ready for the plane trip home to Australia next day. Have a look at our 14th lot of photos from the trip: Yoho to Banff Nat Pks. You can also access the web albums for this trip via the Alaska Canada map if that helps you to put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 13 - Icefields Parkway, Rocky Mountains - Alberta

We continued our trip through the Rocky Mountains of Canada from Jasper National Park to Banff National Park. It was all beautiful and spectacular scenery as we travelled down the Icefields Parkway with highlights being walks at the Athabasca Falls and Athabasca Glacier, the Malign Canyon and the Mistaya Canyon and the Sunwapta Falls. And then of course there was the bear and elk spotting from the safety of our vehicle! Have a look at our 13th lot of photos from the trip: Icefields Parkway. One of the highlights was our canoe trip down the North Saskatchewan River. Have a look at our 12th lot of photos from the trip: Edmonton to Jasper. You can also access the web albums for this trip via the Alaska Canada map if that helps you to put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 11 - Calgary to Banff National Park - Alberta

We were picked up from Calgary airport by friends and we stayed with them in the satellite town of Airdrie. From there we did some sightseeing in and around Banff and Calgary with the highlights being the cable car ride up Sulphur Mountain in Banff, the Johnstone Canyon Walk in Banff National Park and crazily enough, a trip to the Bass Pro Shop in Airdrie. Have a look at our 11th lot of photos from the trip: Calgary to Banff. You can also access the web albums for this trip via the Alaska Canada map if that helps you to put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 10 - Port McNeill to Campbell River - Vancouver Island

We stayed with a friend at Port McNeill for a few days to make sure we saw all North East Vancouver Island had to offer. There are many small islands worth visiting by ferry. A highlight was the day spent kayaking around the tiny islands of Alert Bay spotting seals and sealions and just taking in the wonderful scenery. We saw no bears but we knew they were around! We then travelled back down the east coast and spent our last night in Campbell River before heading back to the mainland. Have a look at our tenth lot of photos from the trip: Vancouver Island 2. You can also access the web albums for this trip via the Alaska Canada map if that helps you to put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 9 - Nanaimo to Telegraph Cove, Vancouver Island

We took the 1.5 hour ferryride from Horseshoe Bay in Vancouver to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and picked up our rental car. We had visited the southern end of Vancouver Island in previous holidays so this holiday we concentrated on the northern two thirds of the island. From Nanaimo, we travelled northwest via Little Qualicum Falls to the Pacific Rim on the west coast and stopped at Ucluelet and Tefino. We then headed north to Telegraph Cove and Port McNeill. Highlights were the beautiful forests, rivers and beach walks in the central west as well as whale and seal spotting around the tiny islands in the north east. Have a look at our ninth lot of photos from the trip: Vancouver Island 1. You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps you to put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 8 - Cruise from Juneau to Ketchikan

We had all day in Juneau with the highlights being the Mendenhall Glacier and the Mt Robert Tramway. Next day we docked at Ketchikan after lunch and did a walking tour around this pretty town. Our last day was at sea travelling down passed Vancouver Island towards Vancouver which was the end of our journey. Can't believe that it was only 7 nights as we seemed to pack a lot into that time. It was a fantastic trip and we definitely will go cruising again! Have a look at our eighth lot of photos from the trip: Juneau to Ketchikan. You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 7 - Cruise from Skagway to Sitka

We cruised further south through various fjords in the Gulf of Alaska to the Northern tip of the Inside Passage and spent a day at Skagway and then a day at Sitka. One of the highlights was the White Pass Summit Scenic Railway from Skagway which goes up to the USA/Canada border. Another was the Historical Park and Totem Walk at Sitka, the previous capital of Alaska and the site where Alaska was sold by Russia to USA in 1867. Have a look at our seventh lot of photos from the trip: Skagway to Sitka. You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 6 - Anchorage to Seward to Hubbard Glacier

We left Anchorage on the Coastal Classic Train at 6:45am destined for Seward across the Kenai Mountains through Moose Pass. Impressive scenery. After checking onto the cruise ship we spent the day in Seward. The Sea Life Centre is a must-see and there is also a walk to a glacier which is worth doing. We boarded the ship and cruised out of Resurrection Bay with our first night at see before heading up Yakutat Bay towards Hubbard Glacier. The Glacier was amazing. Have a look at our sixth lot of photos from the trip: Anchorage to Hubbard Glacier. You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 5 - Anchorage to Kenai

We had 4 days to travel on the Kenai Peninsula before our cruise was due to leave from Seward. The highlights were the River Rafting trip down the Kenai River near Cooper's Landing, the sunset near midnight over Watson Lake, the Russian town of Ninilchik, views to Mt Redoubt which was still giving off smoke from its latest eruption, Homer Spit & Visitor Centre and the glaciers, especially Portage Glacier Cruise and Byron Glacier walk, and camping near Williwaw Creek in the Chugach National Forest. Have a look at our fifth lot of photos from the trip: Anchorage to Kenai . You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 4 - Valdez to Anchorage

We spent a few days at Valdez including the 4th July weekend before heading back up the Richardson Highway to where it meets the Glenn Highway then west to Anchorage which completed that loop. Highlights were: the town of Valdez on Prince William Sound surrounded by the Chugach Mountains, watching a bear catch salmon as well as a sea lion, the Matanuska Glacier and Alyeska Ski Resort. Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 3 - Fairbanks to Valdez

We headed south again from Fairbanks but this time along the Richardson Highway. We were heading for Valdez . It is a shame more people don't see this part of Alaska as it was by far the most scenic. Highlights were: the many glaciers especially the Worthington Glacier; Isabel Pass, the Summit and Tangle Lakes area; spotting a moose and also a grizzly and 3 cubs by the side of the road; beautiful rivers & canyons and the amazing Thompson Pass through the Chugach Mountains. Have a look at our third lot of photos from the trip: the Richardson Highway . You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 2 - Fairbanks & Arctic Circle

We continued north from Denali to Fairbanks. Here we went on the Sternwheeler Riverboat, visited Chena Village & Chena Hot Springs. We then flew in the Bush Mail Plane into the Arctic Circle and landed in Anaktuvuk Pass. It was summer in Alaska. Have a look at our second lot of photos from the trip: Fairbanks & Arctic Circle . You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps put it all in perspective.

Alaska & Canada Trip - Part 1 - Anchorage to Denali

Our big trip this year is overseas to Alaska & Canada for 6 weeks. It is Alaska's 50th anniversary as a state of the USA and both Pete and I turn 50 this year so what more reason do you need? We a very different trip with some of it in a motorhome, some on a cruise ship, some in motels and hire car and some with friends who live in Canada. We started with hiring a Motorhome (RV) for 2 weeks and travelled around Alaska with very little in the way of planning and nothing booked ahead of time. Have a look at our first lot of photos from the trip: Anchorage to Denali . You can also access the web albums for this trip via this Alaska Canada map if that helps put it all in perspective.

Mt Mee State Forest - Qld - April 2009

We had a lot of rain this Easter so our trip to Mt Mee was a little different from what we expected. It is such a short trip from Brisbane though, we will definitely return again when it is drier and warmer. Rocky Holes looks like a great place for a swim plus there are a number of good walks and lookouts. There are nearby attractions we enjoyed visiting including Dayboro (pub lunches, craft shops, antiques etc), wineries (meals, tasings). Have a look at our latest photos of Mt Mee State Forest .

Coolum, Mooloolaba and Noosa North Shore - Qld - March 2009

Two very different weekends on the Sunshine Coast - Mooloolaba was sunny and fine, Coolum was overcast and rainy. We went for beach walks and sampled the many restaurants and cafes along the beachfront at Mooloolaba. Our visit to Coolum was after a series of storms and close encounters with a cyclone which had left the beach severely eroded. The overcast weekend didn't stop us enjoying the beach and our drive along Noosa North Shore. Have a look at our latest photos of the Mooloolaba, Coolum and Noosa North Shore .

Boyd River - NSW - January 2009

Our first camping trip in 2009 and we are back in the Clarence River Region west of Grafton. (see below). A diferent river this time though - the Boyd River which snakes along beside the Old Glen Innes Grafton Highway. We have holidayed here a few times but there are so many great campsites that it is easy to keep coming back. We spent our days swimming, canoeing, exploring the area (Dalmorton, Guy Fawkes National Park and the 'convict' tunnel) and generally relaxing. Have a look at our latest photos of the Boyd River .

Clarence River Valley - NSW - September 2008

We visited this area in 2005 (see Clarence River Album) and in 2006 (see Gibralter Ranges Album) and liked it so much that we decided to spend 9 days camping beside the many rivers that converge in this region - Clarence, Mann, Severn, Guy Fawkes, Boyd, Nymboida. We canoed, fished (unsuccessfully), read books and basically relaxed. A new 'find' this trip was The Gorge, its waterfalls and stunning scenery. Have a look at our latest photos of the Clarence River Valley .

Tanna Island - Vanuatu (Part 2) - July 2008

The last part of our time in Vanuatu was spent on Tanna Island. We visited the amazing Yasur Volcano, climbed down trhough rainforest to waterfalls, swam off black sand beaches, dived into the Blue Cave and had some of our best snorkelling in crystal clear turquoise coloured water. We gave fishing a go on our boat trip up to the Blue Cave and visited some villages and the largest banyan tree I have ever seen. Have a look at the last lot of photos from our Vanuatu trip (part 2) .

Efate Island - Vanuatu (Part 1) - July 2008

We spent 10 days in Vanuatu with the first part of the holiday spent in and around Port Vila, Efate Island. We also visited the nearby islands of Iririki, Hideaway and Ifira Islands. We snorkelled every day amongst the colourful coral, fish and other ocean life; visited waterfalls and cascades set amongst luscious rainforest; had a taste of the culture as well as the food and bought some momentos at the markets. Have a look at the first lot of photos of our Vanuatu trip (part 1) .

Tangalooma, Moreton Island - Queensland - May 2008

For a great weekend away try Tangalooma Resort on the western side of Moreton Island. We walked along the beach watching sunsets, drove a boat up to 'the wrecks' to snorkel amongst the coral and fish, went kayaking, fed the dolphins and generally had a relaxing time. Have a look at the photos of our time at Tangalooma Resort .

Stradbroke Island - Queensland - April 2008

At Easter school holidays we visited Stradbroke Island. We stayed at Amity Point which is at the northern end of North Stradbroke Island. We did a lot of swimming, beach walking, 4WDing, fishing, snorkeling, reading, dolphin feeding. Have a look at the photos of Stradbroke Island .

Conondale National Park and Kenilworth State Forest - Queensland - January 2008

Australia Day long weekend was a good excuse to go camping in the Kenilworth State Forest. We stayed at Booloumba Creek campground, swam in Booloumba Creek and did some bush walking in the Conondale National Park. Nearby Kenilworth offers cheese and yoghurt tasting at the Cheese Factory and there are some wineries worth a visit in the area. Have a look at the photos of our stay in the Kenilworth Conondale & Upper Mary River Valley region.

Glasshouse Mountains & Beerburrum State Forest - Queensland - January 2008

A short trip from Brisbane, this is ideal for a long weekend away. Camp at Coochin Creek in Beerburrum State Forest and canoe or fish in Coochin Creek. You can spend a day sightseeing in the Glasshouse Mountains National Park and climb one of the peaks. We chose to climb Mt Ngungun. Have a look at the photos of our trip around the Glasshouse Mountains and Beerburrum State Forest .

Kilkivan - Tiaro - Queensland - January 2008

We spent a week around the Kilkivan and Tiaro areas, trying out a couple of the free camps selected from the Camps Australia book: Kinkombi Falls and Petrie Park on the Mary River. The aim of the trip was to do a few bush walks, cook on a campfire and do a bit of canoeing. Have a look at the photos of our trip from Kilkivan and Tiaro areas.

Fraser Island - Gayndah, Queensland - 2007

We have been busy selling and moving house since returning from the Round Australia Trip in 2006 so we haven't had any major holidays just a few weekend away. We had to go on the annual Fraser Island Holiday though and we also combined that with a trip to a couple of places around Gayndah. Swimming, canoeing, fishing, reading and 4WDing were the focus this holiday. Have a look at the photos of our trip from Fraser Island to Gayndah.

Trips from 2010 - 2014 (Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu)

Scenery doesn't changed much so previous years' trips and holidays are still relevant. I have moved the photos from the trips 2010 - 2014 to another web page. This includes the New Zealand trip, Vanuatu trip, Roadtrip Brisbane to Melbourne and Sailing the Whitsundays (Queensland). Feel free to have a look at the 2010 - 2014 web albums.
